In 2014, I made the leap into freelancing after years of feeling stuck in the corporate grind. I spent a lot of time trying different opportunities to make money from home, but nothing seemed to work. I tried launching an Etsy shop for handmade jewelry, diving into an Amazon FBA business, and even buying multiple domain names for businesses that never saw the light of day. I was desperately searching for the right fit, but I couldn't find it.
Then, I stumbled upon freelancing—and it completely changed my life. At first, I started as a virtual assistant, making all the rookie mistakes along the way. But I quickly realized that my skills were best used in a niche I truly loved—content creation for bloggers.
That’s when everything clicked. Freelancing gave me the flexibility to create a steady income while staying at home with my kids. I worked through pregnancies, managed my business while chasing toddlers, and juggled the highs and lows of life—all on my terms.
This journey led me to create Virtual Career Academy— where I help others break free from the family vs. finances struggle.
